The Starting Line

My Senior Project did not start with a sprint nor on the right foot. In fact, the start consisted of some fumbles, or setbacks. My plan from the start was to contact my On-Site adviser, Dr. Tom Zega, and quickly get a schedule. This plan was a little too optimistic. After contacting Dr. Zega, I was told that I was required to fill out some paper work and take some online courses. For this, I was directed to another associate. The paper work was necessary for me to work on the University of Arizona Campus as an intern at the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory. The online courses included an Anti-Harassment/Discrimination course and a safety course, of which I still have yet to take. Lastly, I was told to make a schedule with the manager of the LPL's FIB and SEM labs, Dr. Paul Wallace. Unfortunately, Dr. Wallace had been out so I was not able to schedule any appearances at the LPL. My first visit to the LPL is planned to be on the 6th. Although things have not gone the way I had expected, I am still looking forward to starting my project at the LPL. These fumbles, or setbacks, are just as real as the data that I will be analyzing or the conclusions I will make from my data analysis. Setbacks as they might be, they are still part of the process.
